hi folks.
on occasion and i dont know what exact sequence of events cause this.
it never happens from a cold start.
car has been running and you have to stop and get out on getting back in and engaging the lever to drive, it doesnt register the A for automatic on the dash and car wont move, wont register the R reverse or switch to M for manual.
the only way i know so far to clear it is to turn off the engine for a full 2 minutes and restart. thats fine unless you blocking traffic and it get a bit stressful. any ideas appreciated.
Some important information is missing from your post, namely:
1) How long/many miles in your ownership?
2) Mileage of the vehicle?
3) Any evidence of gearbox fluid changes?
One of the reasons I went for a proper EAT6 (with torque convertor) auto tranny available from 2016 and not an earlier ETG which has a poor reputation and has been discontinued for that reason. I researched it quite a bit prior to purchase, both on this forum and on the web.
This post may be useful on a fluid change, it depends on your level of expertise with such matters:
As Madam's Car approached the48k mark we decided to change the oil in the ECG Gearbox, which is as we know a 6 Speed Manual with an Automated Clutch so the procedure is the same for both. There are a couple of things you need to know. First, there isn't a recognised filler plug or level plug...

If not up to it then the first course of action would be to have it recovered to an auto tranny specialist, but be prepared for a shock, as if the transmission isn't restored with a fluid change then it may mean a new transmission, which may well be cost prohibitive.
apologies , ya im not the best typist. This automatic transmission car was bought new and i think the issue has always been there, so the 70km are all our own from new in 2014. Gear box oil changes , i cant say only that Peugeot dealer did all the services but i always forgot to ask them about this issue when i gave them the car . im only getting a chance to chase these annoyances up now during this period when work is quiet)
But this is rare enough occurrence, i mean max 3 times per year
im thinking its just a sequence of events i do when i get out of the car and then back in that locks the system up and needs two minutes with engine and power off to do a full reset. The car runs perfectly otherwise.
