2008 2016 plate facelift model, brakes stuck on at 70mph in outside lane of motorway, released when sat next to arcom in central resi less than 5mph. lucky to be alive. Seen that this was an AWS issue on earlier cars. NFF at garage which I expected, car is not safe to go back on road any ideas?

when you say "the brakes stuck on at 70"
were you braking? or did they just come on by themselves?
or were you in heavy stop start traffic which means you were braking hard, then accelerating , then braking hard again and doing this a number of times?
I ask this because on a previous car in this sort of situation the front brakes would start to smoke (only faintly, but enough to be noticed) and because of the heat they would start to grab when applied, everything was ok after they cooled down. I could drive another 500+ miles without any issues, but start to work them hard and same thing occured again. Of course when I took it in for service the brakes were all ok but difficult to reproduce the driving conditions in the workshop.
