If you have the 12V power socket then I guess you could adapt something like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/READING-LIGHT-PLUG-CIGARETTE-LIGHTER/dp/B002T3IYFY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1385930583&sr=8-2&keywords=12v+plug+in+car+map+lights

This is only a cheap version and a good quality one with a switch would be better.

If you have the dual USB then a similar version may work:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brand-New-Flexible-POWERED-Travelling/dp/B008ETGM24/ref=sr_1_10?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1385930833&sr=1-10&keywords=USB+plug+in+lights

I don't know whether these will be any good but it may be worth having a look.

NB: CHECK WITH YOUR DEALER BEFORE PLUGGING IN EITHER OF THESE SUGGESTIONS AS YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK BLOWING A FUSE: OR WORSE!!!

With all your bulb swapping experiments have you had a chance to look at the little light that shines down into the cup holders, It is virtually non existent

They are all LEDs and comprise the 'mood lighting' of the interior.

You can, however, make adjustments to the 'mood lighting' via the audio system.

The LED is behind the cup holders over the small 'trinket tray' area storage so I can't see any way of reflecting any light up onto the USB sockets.

Maybe a small USB extension cable plugged in, with the trailing socket stowed in the 'trinket tray' will help?

You can get 25cm or 30cm from Amazon fairly cheaply.

Thanks Alan, I might see how hard it is to try and gain access to the led and see if I can upgrade it. As a brighter light or even a blue one would make it look a bit better.

The LEDs inside are of the 'micro' variety and I doubt if a brighter one would be available.

In any case I think any brighter and it wouldn't serve any benefit other than create even darker shadow areas where the USB sockets are.

I'm not certain but I think they will be similar to these:

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/286-1.2W-LED/

Details of the specific type of LED are not given in the hand book as they tell you to go to your dealer (that probably means paying £10 for a £1 LED!).

Al.

PS: If this T5 type is suitable then there are these that may be better:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-5050-Interior-Dashboard-Light/dp/B00CFPIRQW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386163552&sr=8-1&keywords=T5+LED

NB: As I've said, I do not know whether these T5 LEDs will fit.

Maybe I'll leave it alone then
By the way I'm very impressed with blue 9 led footwear lighting I've had so many comments. I had similar ones factory fitted to my other car a Honda civic, but I must admit these are more striking.
