dawry, tell me a bit more about the route and the destinations in Andorra / Northern Spain, did you go as far down to Barcelona ?

I have done a bike trip to Barcelona 3 times and car once - back in 1993 but did not stop in Andorra, it was straight to BCN.

Aro-rat - in Belgium we will be spending a couple of nights in both Ypres for the WW1 Memorials, Menin Gate and Brugge to see the city, canals, etc. in Czech Rep we will be staying 3 nights in Prague.

The first 3 nights in France will be at Albert in Picardy to visit the Somme Battlefields and Memorials, etc. it is not intended to be a battlefield tour, but as we will be there we want to visit them. A few years ago we visited the Normandy Landing Beaches - a very thought-provoking and humbling experience.

Last year we drove the Canadian Rockies from Vancouver through to Calgary and the year before the entire Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica - 3159 miles in 4.5 weeks including a side-trip to the Grand Canyon.

Evader, thanks I may just put the Battlefields &
Pragueon my list... but possibly drive to Spain this year.

Did Vancouver to Banff and to Jasper and then back to vancouver couple of time and once
Calgary via the dinosaurs route to Alberta, Jasper & to Vancouver. You can not get sick of the rockies.

I really want to do the Harley on the west coast SF-Seattle, anyone done that ?

If not done so try Norway, its like the rockies and rugged.

Many thanks for starting the fresh topic, sure makes sense.

I have twice been to Normandy, once with my wife, staying at Gold Beach and visited all of the Beaches and many museums, plus Bayeux. We also visited my wife's Grandfather's War Grave at Chauny in Picardy and will again on this trip.

The second trip was with a mate who was in the REME in more recent times - we mostly stayed in Arromanche. With the same mate I have also been to Italy visiting many sites and the areas where much intense fighting took place from Salerno right up through to the north where an uncle died of wounds in Sept '44 on the Gothic Line. Visited his grave at Montecchio.
