LEDs in blue have arrived and I can't decide which I prefer:

Incidentally the lens is bluer than the photo shows.

I've put the white LED back as I think it will illuminate the footwell area better to show if there's anything you're about to tread on.

I'm confused?

Incidentally, to remove the original bulbs you first have to take out the lens housing complete.

This is easy to do with a small bladed screwdriver to prise out one end.

Note: these can only be prised out from one end as the other end has a tiny plug connected to the supply wire. You can remove the tiny plug and lead if you wish.

When out you then remove the cover plate from the back. This comes off easy as it's slightly sprung on the sides. It comes off completely, or will hinge upwards, whichever you prefer.

Test the new LED for correct polarity before replacing the back on the housing unit.

To replace the housing, insert and locate the plug end first.

Remember: These are plastic so be gentle. At no time do you need to use any force!

These pictures show the boot light housing unit but the foot well housing is exactly the same type.

<div style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">There seems room for a 9 LED to fit easily (I've only used a 5 LED) which will give better illumination if you think it necessary.

Al, I like the blue lights, very themed with the rest of the car.If you had gone for red ones I would have worried that you were pimping the car up too much

So tell me have you kept the blue lights on around the dash console or have you turned them off, I am undecided?

I've kept them on.

It's one of the little things to make it different from the crowd.

Yes, it's the blue LED strips along either side of the panoramic roof.

Have a look at this video. Blue LEDs in the panoramic roof are shown at 0:31 onwards:

One thing.

If you have fitted mats they do tend to absorb some of the blue, so you may want to install a 9LED instead of the 5LED although actually sitting in the car shows more blue light than is shown in the photo**.

Big bonus though is the reflection off the 2008 logo on the mats:

9LED BLUE: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-9-SMD-LED-CANBUS-ERROR-FREE-Blue-INTERIOR-SIDE-LIGHT-BULBS-T10-501-W5W-194-/161003584078?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item257c8fba4e

PS: I've just sat inside and the 5LED is perfect. It gives enough illumination all over the foot area.

PPS: **I've adjusted the photo to give a truer brightness with the 5LED.

Hi Don, yes it's a bit different.

It's actually a lot brighter than the picture shows** so the 5LED is plenty bright enough.

The LED's have turned up rather quickly. Let's see how easy they are to change haha. I will be following your instructions Al! I'm looking forward to a full blue mood lighting in the car soon haha
