Got my renewal for 1.6 manual petrol 120.

Also for my Peugeot RCZ 1.6 manual petrol 156. Both with LV

Both have the same drivers, and everything else similar down the line including Breakdown cover and Foreign Travel.

EXCEPT

The 2008 has 6 years more NCB than the RCZ.,

The RCZ is Insurance Group 29

The 2008 is Insurance Group 19

Insurance renewal shows 2008 ÂŁ339

RCZ. ÂŁ192

How come? Even LV had no explanation and wouldn't budge on the premium.

Shop around I used to have a 3008 and the premium varied from ÂŁ170 with saga to ÂŁ750 for the same cover with another company . I think L.V came in at about ÂŁ280.

Loyal customers are seen as mugs by most companies now.

Strange I was quoted ÂŁ280 by L.V, I was then quoted ÂŁ310 on a price comparison site with L.V for exactly the same cover, so you really do have to shop around.

My insurance went up despite no claims by a considerable amount on my 2008 Allure Diesel. Shopping around and being careful with the mileage I managed to get it literally just below ÂŁ400 but with 12 years no claims and 16,000 miles I find that expensive for a diesel vehicle, 2016 plate. My original 'loyal customer' quote was a lot worse at ÂŁ530 but I still think it's a little expensive for what the car is - are there particular issues with the repairs of this vehicle at all? I know I have issues getting new tyres for it - unusual/unpopular size - but can't think of another reason for such a high cost on what is basically a standard family car.

I took a quote from LV a while ago, as a matter of interest, bearing in mind I'm a woman, in my 70s with a clean Licence and their quote was ridiculous for my pretty basic 2015 reg'd 2008 which we've had since early 2016. I am with Rias and I managed to get them down this year to ÂŁ236.45 which includes a ridiculous ÂŁ20 non-refundable set-up fee 'for arranging the renewal'. Pah!!

I'd shop around for sure.

Also like the above poster I live in the South West.

Quite frankly I am amazed at how cheap insurance is down here when I moved 18yrs ago, if yours is really high then look at the area you live and consider moving...lol

2015 XK Dynamic R valued at ÂŁ35k = ÂŁ420 with 15yrs protected NCD
2017 Toyota C-HR valued at ÂŁ16k = ÂŁ380 company lease so no NCD
2016 GT line 1.2 valued ÂŁ11k = ÂŁ292 with no NCB

I am 54 and no points or convictions.

I would say to everyone to shop around at renewal time and NEVER have auto-renewal, just write the date in your diary/calendar for next year.

I ALWAYS use the comparison sites then check the cheapest of those out on the review sites, if they have less than 4 stars/100 votes I'll pay more.

As to LV, you do realise that the small print of their policy states that they can use USED parts when repairing your car? So I switched from them a few years back and won't touch them. Oh I've tried the likes of Direct Line (NOT on comparison sites) and typically they are at least twice the price. :D

Appreciate that there are still drivers who purchase their tyres/wipers/batteries from a main dealer, why they do so I have no idea...but clearly more money than sense :(

Just got my renewal notice from Churchill.

2008 1.6 GT Line 120 Bluehdi, fully comp with full NCD and NCD protection, market value not exceeding ÂŁ75K

Last year premium was ÂŁ190.40

Renewal premium is ÂŁ189.28

Never in my life have I seen a drop in premium without moving...
