Hi there - I'm new here, and also not very mechanically adept, so apologies in advance..

I have an old Fiat Punto with a flat battery (after not having driven it for a week - it was fine otherwise). I went to jump start it from my 2008 but couldn't find the negative terminal on the battery (of the 2008). Can I just clip the negative lead to anywhere on the engine block of the 2008 (donor car)? And if so, would I still clip the negative lead to the negative port on the Punto battery?

Thanks for your help, and apologies if this is a stupid question!

This shows how to connect to another battery:

The above shows starting the 2008 but the connections will be the same to start the Fiat.

It used to be that the vehicle providing the power should have it's engine running as that will give a better boost with it's alternator running.
