Evening everyone.

I'm compiling a wish list of enhancements to the media centre / console module. Feel free to add your own.

This is my kick off list. I think these are doable given the technology in the vehicle:

1. Auto brightness function. As with many devices (mobile phones, even my TV) one setting would be to have the internal displays adjust. The vehicle already has automatic lights functionality so I thing that this could be extended to support other gadgets

2. Media centre auto sleep function. This would be an optional function. If my computer's display goes to sleep after a period of inactivity so should the media console. When listening to music I don't really need to have the display on constantly. Certain functions such as Sat Nav would be disable this feature.

3. Correct the bug with mp3 ended a few seconds early.

4. Implement a function that is supported in Windows computers (not sure Macs) that will display as album art a file called cover.jpg when this is in the same folder as the mp3. If an mp3 has its own embedded folder this will override cover.jpg.

5. If the console can display photos and audio files I don't see it as being technically impossible to display videos on the console. I understand that it is strongly debatable to have videos playing in a moving vehicle but with all the tech available to functions such as ECO (Start / Stop) it might be possible to implement a check that will only play a video if the vehicle is stationary / switched off.

Regards,
Alan

1. doesn't it do this already when you adjust dashboard lights to say lower, then when the lights come on the lighting dims and so does the touch screen

2.
this to is on the settings, i'm sure i saw a setting for turning off the screen, might be wrong tho

5. i agree with the comments about video, if i canwatcha slideshow of pictureswhat'sthe difference between that and a video, it could be just as distracting.

as for wishes, the current playlist seems to please itself whether or not to reset itself after i have switched off and then when i go back in the car its on the right playlist but reset the playlist back to the start again, this also happens when going between menus on the touch screen, go figure, i use an ipod btw.

<span style=": rgb251, 251, 253;">An LED light ring around the ignition would be nice.</span><span style=": rgb251, 251, 253;"> </span>

Second that, even my first car (escort) had that

1. Does it? The option I believe it has is a slide where you would manually increase or decrease the illumination. I was thinking more on the lines of a check box which, if checked will allow the system to increase / decrease the illumination depending on the amount of light the vehicle "sees".

2. The feature I could find is a button to manually switch off the screen. Here I'm thinking more in terms of other devices that support auto power off after a period of inactivity (not interacting with the screen).

5. Great observations

The folk at Peugeot should spend a few hours taking note of how the various multimedia devices function on their Desktop / Table devices. There are many great ideas they could implement.

7. I wish there is a function to mark a set of numbers as being favourites. This will appear on top when I call up the address book (or a separate function for favourites is available from the list).

8. My phone, Samsung Galaxy S 4 allows me to associate multiple numbers with a contact. From the vehicle's menu I cannot see and therefore select the number I want to call a contact on.

I've extended the list to other part of the car.

9. I would like an option where I can open the fuel inlet from within the car. My 4 Toyotas had this feature and it was really cool.

10. I don't know about you but the sticker that tells you the tire pressure is printed too low to the ground and in a very small font. I'm not that young and bendable

11. The boot shelf can be folded. In my opinion this will age very quickly with constant use. I think a simple shelf that is attached using a string boot door would have been more practical.

Incidentally yesterday I mentioned the boot shelf and today a review of it on a car magazine mentions it (http://www.2008ownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic474_post4320.htmll).

Reproduced here:

"the 2008 is the only one that swallowed up
all four pieces of luggage with ease, justifying

the additional body length. Loading is easy andconvenient ""“ however the parcel shelf is not

hooked on to the hatch and remains down evenwhen the hatch is opened."

12. A decent sized glove box.

13. A small light source that automatically comes on when the mirror in the sun visor is opened. (My Toyota Auris had this feature).

2. Media centre auto sleep function.

Without the media centre auto sleep function one runs the risk of burnin over time. Burnin happens when a constant fixed display "etches" itself into the screen resulting in a situation in which the constant text will "appear" even then the display is off.
