yeh there some good and bad to it. i don't really understand why you can't sell a car with tax on? just seems like a bit of a PITA really. i kind of rely on my disc to tell me when it's due as i have a memory like a sieve, i know i will still be able to check online but it's still not as easy as walking to the front of my car and looking at the windscreen! lol

I suspect many of us will simply switch to paying on a monthly basis. That way at least it will be not be necessary to remember a renewal.

I worry about the problem of driving vehicles that are not your own. How will you know that they are taxed? Calling/checking the database isn't really a practical solution.

agreed with that although i imagine the current limit for 6 monthly payment will still stand for monthly so those of us with £20 VED will still have to remember to pay unless they have a set up like tv licence where it just goes out once a year via direct debit.
