I am looking at buying aluminium universal roof bars 120cm only £35-40 pounds for the summer getaway. I had a quick measure up and the roof rails measure 115cm to their outer edge width so technically should fit. I will feed back shortly with the full test!!Edited by: cbobo

Ok the lidl bargain aluminium 120cm bars do fit, slight gap at the top of the jaws but do bite hard and firm. Happy with these a bargain at £26.99. While stocks last!!!

I was going to buy new roof bars but found that the old Thule Rapid 755 System I used on my old Passat B6 Estate just fitted. The clamps have to be opened as fully as possible to get them on but they fit a treat. This saved me £120 odd pounds. I only use them once or twice a year so more than adequate.

Hi those will be fine they look the same, only thing is the way the fittings grab the roof bars is not a contoured fit (only genuine 2008 Peugeot bars will), nevertheless it does the job.

Just a bit of a gap in the jaws but clamps on solid enough.

Hi,
The owners handbook says to fit roof bars where indicated on the longitudinal bars but I can't find the marks.can you help where they are and what they look like

HiI'm seeking the dimensions of the roof rails fitted, in particular the gaps between the roof and the underside of the rails - which vary from front to back. I haven't got my car with me (abroad at the moment) and wish to purchase suitable roof bars. There are may on Ebay, but don't state if they will fit a 2008.
So if anyone can offer advice (the handbook doesn't state the dimensions- as far as I can see), it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you look on Ebay, most of the auctions offering these give a list of those makes, models etc. the bars WILL (or should I suppose!) fit.I was checking for similar recently - and you can buy a complete package, with the box.

I had a look at the Lidl ones but they were exactly the same as some I tried off ebay just marketed under a different brand name, so I never even tried them they just went straight back.

Going to have to pull the trigger on a pair of genuine ones I fear, (part number1608474680)

I did not buy the genuine one, because it is good only for this type of car, so it is difficult to sell later or reuse it on another car. I bought these:

Thule SquareBar 761
Thule Rapid System 775
because they are good for many types of cars and they fit on the 2008 perfectly well. I bought the old fashioned and heavy square bars, because everything can be attached to them. The wide bars are noisy and need expensive adapters.
