As an about to be new owner of an Allure 1.6 I wonder whether any of you have tried the rather expensive superdiesel.
I use it on my Tiguan and find it quieter and I get about an extra 100 miles from a tank. It also feels more responsive but that might be psychological!

I generally use fuel from the cheapest convenient filling station, which most often means Sainsburys but can often be Shell or most rarely Esso. I did fill up up with Shell V-power on one occasion a few weeks ago and I thought I noticed an improved response. However I checked their own claims which do not include any claims for improved performance only improved cleaning. I figured if the fuel company themselves don't claim improved performance then there won't be any. I did wonder whether filling up occasionally (say one in four tanks) for the cleaning properties might be worthwhile.

I agree. In fact some small petrol engines often struggle to start first time on supermarket fuel.
