Fitting aftermarket reversing camera

Hi,

Just joined as we recently purchased a a new 2016 2008 Active 1.2 L VTi

I am planning to fit a a reversing camera and the "easy" approach is to tap into the reverse light wire for power such that the camera activates when reverse is selected.

Will this work or will I get failure indications from the CAN Bus monitoring system? Has any one tried this?
Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Dawry,

Many thanks for the prompt reply and the pictures. This is very helpful.

Just to understand, is the flickering caused by the CANBus system and can it be removed by a inserting a "dumb" relay? I'm afraid I am very old school in relation to car electrics, (12v +ve and Ground -ve is what I understand) but I can imagine that a simple relay in which the "flickering" input from the reversing lamp successfully actuates the relay and a direct 12+ve feed from the battery via a fuse switched by the relay, could smoothly power the camera.

I have no real understanding of CANBus but wonder if the special relay from the Peugeot dealer you refer to is actually using the CANBus system rather than bypassing it?

I'm afraid your Southampton fitter is a bit far to travel... my car is in Finland!

Thanks again for the help
